Yes your reading this on the brand new shiny server housed in a Dallas datacentre.

Much cheaper than our previous London based server because of the weak dollor but anyway….

In the last post I tell you about the spec of the server so read there, we also get loads of bandwidth and a 10mbps tranfer rate (maybe upgraded ti 100mbps if we feel like it).

New server on it’s way!

Filed: General @ 12:48 am on October 24, 2006 No Comments Yet! | Email This Post Email This Post

Yup! Freshsites has a new server on it’s way.

We are transferring from Fasthosts direct to LayeredTech.
Reason?
Well, it’s as simple as cost and performance.

The new server is more than twice as fast and allows us 1500GB of data transfer per month (we currently use 100GB on the current server).

The new one also has Cpanel and WHM installed which makes my life easier so less SSH login and more web interface login. Also, less crappy (fasthosts) Matrix control panel, hello award winning Cpanel!

Overall the new server is cheaper (as its in the US) faster and well, better value for money.

Fasthosts have been amazing and their uptime is second to none and I recommend them, however, look around first because they are expensive.

Milburn Music update

Filed: General, Web Design @ 7:18 pm on August 17, 2006 No Comments Yet! | Email This Post Email This Post

The whole website has been revamped from the news system to the CMS.

The new design is simply a WordPress theme I created (myself) with features such as a calendar added and some other tricky optionals.

Wordpress is an amazing piece of software and is the dog’s bo*****s when it comes to a simple CMS system. Highly recommended.

My next task is to try and crack how to code a Joomla! template, which could prove more difficult.

New design!

Yup, a new design has arrived. And I must say it’s one of my favourites!

It’s based on viewing for 1024×768 minimum viewers at the moment but I’m going to use a bit of css switching trickery with a bit of javascript to make it accessable to 800×600 minimum viewers aswell.

Just an update. It’s entirely css based and is a fixed size design.

Hope you like it ;)

Our trip to Silverstone!

Filed: General @ 3:26 pm on July 12, 2006 No Comments Yet! | Email This Post Email This Post

We went to Silverstone to see the FIA Formula One Grand Prix and it was amazing.

I managed to record the F1 pit pass me and my mates went into. Basically it’s just a kinda dog bone shaped tarmaced area for the BMW Sauber F1 car to do burnouts.

The driver is Current World Touring Car Champion (and current BMW Sauber F1 Tester) Andy Priaulx so enjoy!
